"Pirelli World Challenge is the next step in the ladder from SCCA club racing and is the ultimate achievable aspirational series for many up-and-coming club racing drivers. Many of these drivers grew up reading Grassroots Motorsports with dreams of climbing the motorsports ladder. It is for this reason we are rewarding those racers who personify the grassroots ethos with the Grassroots to Glory award," said Andy Reid, Senior Editor and Marketing Director, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.

In his first two career Pirelli World Challenge starts, MazdaSpeed3 driver Michael Cooper, the 2011 SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Champion, took home wins in both races at St. Petersburg in Touring Car and laid claim to the Grassroots to Glory award for the weekend. A few weeks later at Long Beach, Rookie Roger Miller improved an amazing 13 places from the start of the race to finish fifth in GTS at Long Beach in his Ford Mustang Boss 302S. Miller bounced back from a tough debut weekend at St. Petersburg.

At Miller Motorsports Park, Tristan Herbert, in the VW Jetta GLI, blew a motor during Saturday's races and without a spare, swapped motors from a fan's car for Sunday's race. Starting from the back of the field because of the motor swap, Herbert charged to the front of the Touring Car pack to take the win and claim the Grassroots to Glory award.

At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Patrick Seguin, in the VW GTi, ran a clean, consistent race to claim third place in Touring Car to win the prize, while at Detroit, rookie Andy Lee's amazing 2012 Pirelli World Challenge GTS season continued with a sweep of both GTS races at Belle Isle which vaulted him into the Drivers' Championship lead for the class.

At Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Alec Udell's team performed an amazing feat by building a totally new car in less than a week for the races. Udell secured the Grassroots to Glory award with his third place finish in GTS in Round 9 of the championship. With that finish, Udell became the youngest driver, at the age of 16, to stand on the Pirelli World Challenge podium.
